My Peru blog....
It is almost distressing to me, thinking that I will be in a foreign continent, with a foreign language and foreign customs in less than a week. I am experiencing such a myriad of emotions; mainly terror and excitement. I hope this trip will challenge and change me in more ways than I anticipate. I know it will cause me to re-evaluate my way of living, my importance in the world, and the way that I dream.
I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing god who is sending a love letter to the world.

I'm looking forward to hearing your stories...because I know you're gonna have some to share with us. Wishing you really well in these next few months Mim. YOU will grow, YOU will learn, YOU will be challenged. You're going to be this butterfly whose wings will open up beautifully for the world to see! Love ya.
ReplyDeleteHey Mim ... looking forward to reading your stories and learnings too.
ReplyDeleteI actually love, and ditto, Jenn's comment. It's a different way of looking at things, but has been helpful for me lately. You are already such a beautiful person. Just be who you are. You might learn more about who that is, but you are always you. Wonderful, imperfect, warm, soulful, and wise ... and a ton more things.
Just enjoy yourself, connect with souls around you and trust yourself.
Can't wait to hear more ...
Way to go Mim, I'm so happy for you. I'm looking forward to stalking your blog regularly (I'm a known blog stalker.. creeper.. for real, I read people's blogs that I don't know - so yours, I feel a little less creepy about) I hope you have an awesome time! You will learn so much. And I also hope to get a similar experience asap, then we can have story swap! yay, love you.

I love these things. Terror and excitement mean you're on the right track. I hope your time in Lima is going to change your life, and help you know yourself all the more.
ReplyDeleteNow, I'm having trouble subscribing to this blog, even from my own blogger account. Is there a button somewhere?
It looks like you've figured it out. What is the name you go by in day to day life stickbugg?

HI Mim!
ReplyDeleteBev & I are praying that you will find joy in your gleanings, wisdom in the midst of your challenges, and the operative power of love in the midst of uncertainties or fear! [Matured love drives out all kinds of fear!] May your knowledge and understanding of the humanity shared by us all confirm for you, just how human you are, and how beautiful on the mountain are the feet of those who bring [really] good news - and while you're chewing on that, remember the wisdom of the aboriginal who invited his friend from another part of the world, to "come and live with us for a few years, walk in our moccasins, and learn from us - then, after you have come to understand us, we will be much more likely to listen to what you have to say to us!
Being a learner first, is what you do so well!
We believe in the beauty that IS WITHIN and is FROM WITHIN you - which makes you so attractive to most everyone we know!
Keep on the learning side of things, and you will become wise, in the right way, and at the right time, with the right people.
When you speak to your neighbours, speak to that which is of God in THEM, even as they speak to that which is of God in YOU!
Love you,
Bev & Clare
Hey Mim
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing.
Love Mom (Mrs. N)
Mim! I love this post... I know exactly how you feel. Do not try to let go of the terror - lean into it and you will learn infinitely more than if you try to escape the fear. :) I know you will come out of this experience changed and more wise... Thinking of you!!!
ReplyDeleteHI Mim!
ReplyDeleteHow are things going in South America?
I think by now, Rachel & Teri are on Safari, or very nearly ready to depart, in Kenya.
Hope you are enjoying just being yourself, among the people - sharp as a tack, when assessing things around you, to see them for what they are -- and innocent as the day is long, in regard to activities which you enjoy, and interactions with the people who are within your sphere of influence, on a daily basis.
You are such an intelligent, bright, loving, and "real" person, that you will be able to discover so much about the people around you, as you learn more about yourself, too!
Take in their culture, seek to understand, and have fun with yourself - and the funny way you speak, or act as a non-local, who MIGHT [occasionally?] even be a bit loco, by loco local standards!
Tee hee!
Love Bev & Clare
